Group Running Trap: Highway Patrol
Type of car used: marked

Scanner Frequency:
Latitude: 40.802137
Longitude: -74.0384598
MAP
Additional Info: NJ Troopers like to sit in the breaks of the median during the a.m. rush hour. Mostly all of the time they are pulling over cars which are travelling north bound, since at this time of the morning the south bound lanes are very heavy with Manhattan bound vehicles. Police use both marked and unmarked cars. this trap streches from the GW/Linc. tunnel tolls to the Vince Lombardi rest area.

Longitude: -74.3122406
MAP
Additional Info: On the southbound Turnpike (truck/bus lanes), right between the rest stop and the exit for the Turnpike, there's a wall to reduce noise in the surrounding community. The wall breaks sharply to provide exit for a police turnaround. I've seen three marked cars piled there, completely hidden from the unsuspecting motorist. I always pass at 65 mph, and I've never been stopped.

Additional Info: This trap is located underneath the overpass where the east and west bound sides of the NJT meet. Marked patrol cars will setup on the southbound lanes in the am and northbound lanes in the PM. Late night units are there with lights on looking for out of state vehicles possibly carrying drugs. Stay under 68mph and you will be safe. NJ state troopers DO NOT GIVE BREAKS

Longitude: -75.3108
MAP
Additional Info: State troopers lay in wait after the toll booths as you enter Delaware from NJ - Cars are unmarked Crown Victoria's and marked sky-blue State cars. Hours from 10pm - 1 am - occasionally later at weekends. Troopers use laser detectors and go for vehicles travelling more than 8-10 MPH above the limit. Watch for NJ Troopers before the bridge - their speeding fines have recently doubled to nearly $140 for 10-15 mph over posted limit.

Additional Info: Delaware Memorial Bridge: The State Police sit in the toll area and ticket people for not slowing to the posted limit (35 mph?) as they approach the toll booth. It appears that they prefer to ticket out-of-state vehicles. The only safe way to slow to the posted speed at the sign is to move to the far right lane and pray no one runs you down...

Additional Info: A trooper sits inside the toll booth on the southbound side with lidar and nails unsuspecting motorists. The speed limit drops from 50 to 35. You can see NOTHING prior to the officer coming to your lane to tell you to pull over after you pay your toll. There were 5 cars pulled when I was there. It appears that the activity was only focused on the left side of the roadway as there were no patrol cars on the right hand side.
